The Snow Village {Sunday Snapshot}

I love my snow village.  It goes up every year after Thanksgiving and stays up through January.  My kids get me a new piece every year for Christmas, so little by little, my village gets bigger every year.

Last year I didn't put it up for the first time ever.  We came home with Cara at the end of October and I couldn't quite trust her to stay away from it.  This year she could barely contain her excitement as we brought out all of the boxes and she got to watch the village slowly be built.  Her brother is still patiently teaching her the concept of, "We look with our eyes, not with our hands."

I love it so much!  I'm hoping for the "Lucky Dragon" Chinese Restaurant for my Christmas present this year.

She's Exhausted

She's so tired.  She has played hard for the past couple of days and she is so worn out.  She insisted she didn't need a nap today.  I looked over a few moments ago because she was coloring so quietly and this is what I saw:

Poor thing!  I need to go straighten her out into a more comfortable position. ;)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Grandma came over from Spokane for Thanksgiving.  She brought the kids chocolate turkeys from See's to sit by their plates for Thanksgiving dinner.

Plenty of food for everyone!

Cara posing with Daddy for a picture before dinner.

This is what they do to each other when they think I'm not ready with the camera yet for pictures. ;)

My 3 sweet babies:

The kids posed with Grandma after dinner.

I don't know about you, but I'm stuffed!  I don't even want pie.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I know I did!

Guess who got their ears pierced today?

We went to the mall today to try out some sizes before Black Friday.  I like to figure out sizes before I buy, then order online from my nice, quiet, comfy home rather than go shopping in the middle of the night.

We've been trying to convince Cara to get her ears pierced for a while now.  We've told her exactly how the process works, and that it does sting a little.  She hasn't been all that interested.  We walked by Claire's today and asked her if she wanted to get her ears pierced and she said, "No."  We said she should at least sit in the chair and look at the earring choices.  She saw Hello Kitty earrings and decided that getting her ears pierced wouldn't be a bad idea.  Sorry for the cell phone pics.  We weren't prepared for the occasion.

Here she was, ready to get her ears pierced:

Getting her ear marked for the earring.  Starting to look a little nervous.  By this time she was telling the lady, "I'm just nervous."

First ear pierced, no problem.

Then she was a little scared and didn't want the next one done.  Yikes!  We couldn't leave with just one ear pierced.  Daddy had to hold her for the next ear.

Daddy dried her tears after the next ear was done.  She turned the tears off like a switch when Daddy told her she was brave and could pick a prize. :)

Here is Miss Cara, modeling her brand new Hello Kitty earrings.

She's super excited about them now!

Tolo Dance {Sunday Snapshot}

A has been looking forward to this dance for a while.  At least a month.  Maybe more.  We stayed home from the WSU Cougar game against Utah today so she could go (and the Cougs almost won).  She spent the better part of the afternoon getting ready.  And she waited.  And waited.  And waited.  And her date was out hunting.  And didn't answer his cell phone.  He finally answered.  Needless to say, she wasn't thrilled.

She even had time to change her hairstyle while she waited.  He finally showed up, posed for a pic, and off they went.  Dinner at Mongolian Grill and then on to the dance.
I hope they have a great time!

Snow!

We woke this morning to a beautiful and unexpected snowfall.  The boys headed off to Pullman to watch the football game and us girls stayed home.  A has a dance tonight and she didn't want to miss it.  I still havent' gotten "the" picture(s) for Christmas cards yet, so I went outside with Cara to see what we could do.  I love this one!

She really wasn't all that interested in taking pictures.  She wanted to go to the store to buy a sled to pull behind the 4-wheeler.  So we went to Sunnyside and bought 2 sleds (in case one breaks).  We got home and the girls put on their snow clothes.

And we realized we have no rope. :(  Cara dissolved in a bucket of tears and wants to go back to the store and buy rope NOW!!!  We have convinced her she will still have fun riding on the 4-wheeler in the snow and that we'll go get rope later.  There isn't really all that much snow, but it's enough to get a 4-year-old excited.

This morning when I was combing her hair she said, "Once it snowed in China, but they (orphanage staff) wouldn't let us out."  Well, we let you out here, sweetheart! :)

Cougs Win! {Sunday Snapshot}

We spent our weekend in Pullman for our last tailgating trip of the football season.  A has a tolo dance to go to next weekend so Cara and I  are staying home with her.  I fully intended on going to the game until the rain and snow mix started to fall.  Then I decided it might be best to just stay in the 5th wheel and listen to the game on the radio.  Everyone else went to the game.  Cara lasted exactly 6 minutes into the first quarter before her sister brought her back to the trailer.

Believe it or not, the Cougs won!  Amazing, they beat ASU!!!!  They still won't have enough wins to go to a bowl game, but they've had a better season than they've had for the past 5 years.

None of the snow stuck, so it was an easy drive back.  Cara likes to camp, but this morning she said that she missed her bed and wanted to go home. ;)

Hot tubbin' {Sunday Snapshot}

Cara's new favorite thing is going in the hot tub.  We didn't let her in last fall and winter for a couple of reasons.  Number one, we still hadn't been to the heart doctor and we didn't want to take any chances.  Number two, we thought she was still too little.

Now she's 4 and a half and we let her in.  We've turned down the temperature a little and we only let her go in for one pump cycle and she does just fine.

She' been 5 or 6 times so far and she loves it-especially when she goes with Daddy!

B's Last Grid Kid Game

B has been playing Grid Kid football since he was 8 years old.  He's 14 now.  And today was his last game.  His team has made it to the playoffs every year he's played, and two years ago, they even won the championship.  B is #40.  This was the kickoff:

They played hard, but lost.  It's a little sad since he's been playing for so many years.  But look on the bright side, now we can go to all of the WSU Cougar football games since our Saturdays will be free from now on.
