Weigh in's at the Livestock Show {Sunday Snapshot}

I took a picture of some of the cousins last year in the back of the truck as we waited in line to get the pigs weighed in at the livestock show.  I wanted to take the same type of picture this year for a Sunday Snapshot, too.

I tried to get some pictures of my "big kids," too, but after I took them I noticed A's shirt would gape open when she tried to get pigs out of the trailer, and her pants showed too much in the back when she was washing pigs.  B kept giving me crazy Jack Nickelson faces, so I couldn't post any of them.  Hopefully I can get some better ones tomorrow when they're showing.

Everyone in the club's pigs made weight, so that is great news.  It should be a wonderful livestock show this year, A's last one!

A's Last Parade

Today was the Granger Cherry Festival and A's last parade.  They rode on cars today because the float is still under construction for the new girls.

She will ride in this car for the Zillah parade in a couple of weeks, but she will be past royalty then.  It was a really nice day for her last parade.

Cara's Farm Program

Yesterday was Cara's farm program at school.  She has been looking forward to this program for some time now.

She knew all of the songs and sang her little heart out.

Love this picture!  The little girl next to Cara was really into that particular song.

Cara's part was the first frog in "Five Green Speckled Frogs."

It was hard to get a good "shimmy" picture no matter what setting I had my camera on.

The program only lasted 30 minutes, but as you can see in this picture, Cara was pretty wiped out by the end.

She says she doesn't want to do any more programs because they're just too hot and sweaty. :)

Kittens {Sunday Snapshot}

About a week ago, A brought home two kittens.  We have 2 older cats, but they are more interested in staying over at the neighbor's house, so we rarely see them.  The kids have named these kittens "Spot" and "Freckles."

Yesterday, J bought Cara a little ball and feather on a stick that she could use to play with the kittens.  Spot is not interested.

Cara likes to hold them, too.

Freckles likes to spend her time sleeping under the patio table on the rug.

Nothing like a little sunshine and new kittens on a Sunday afternoon!

It's A Two Birthday Party Day For Miss Cara

Today Cara has two birthday parties to attend.  One is her cousin's and the other is a little girl in her class.  The theme of her friend's party is "Monster High."  Since we're not really Monster High people, we just decided to go with Minnie Mouse. :)

Landscaping {Sunday Snapshot}

We have lived in our house for 5 years now, and we still have landscaping to do.  We planted most of the trees and did the work around the edges of the house, but we still haven't finished the perimeter of the yard.  Since A is graduating in about 6 weeks, it seemed like a good time to get the job finished in time for her graduation party.

Here are a couple "before" picture as the boys were starting to lay landscape fabric on Friday.

Saturday was super windy, so very little was accomplished.  Here's what things are starting to look like on Sunday morning:

The rock is very heavy, so J gets a load with a tractor, and B has to spread it out with his feet.

Here is their little helper in her night gown, rain boots, gardening gloves and furry leopard print jacket (isn't that what everyone wears to landscape?).  She likes the cardboard rolls from the ends of the landscape fabric.  She plays swords with them and chases the chickens.

Occasionally, she takes a swing at her brother for fun.  He does not seem amused.

She thinks its hilarious, though! ;)
It's a lot of work to get everything done and we still need to plant the shrubs and flowers, but it's going to look soooooo nice when it's finished!

Trip to the Tillamook Cheese Factory

During the second half of spring break, we took a trip to Lincoln City, Oregon.  We knew the weather was going to be cold, windy, and rainy, and it was.  We figured it would be a nice little getaway to watch the ocean from the condo and eat at some of our favorite restaurants.  It also meant we could take a little day trip to the Tillamook Cheese Factory.

The kids had fun posing for a picture before we took the tour:

Cara has been here a few times before, but this time she was really interested in watching the process of making and packaging cheese.

We were wanting to breeze through the tour so we could get to tasting cheese and buying ice cream, but Cara wanted to spend a little more time watching the process.
Finally we made it to cheese tasting and ice cream buying.  The cheese factory is always a fun trip no matter what the weather is like. :)

NYC Trip {Sunday Snapshot}

Last week A and B went on an FBLA trip to New York.  My mom and I went along to chaperone.  After getting up at 2:30 in the morning in Seattle and flying to Salt Lake City and from SLC to Newark, New Jersey, then taking a bus to New York, the first stop was the top of the Empire State Building:

The view of all the lights was amazing!

The next morning we were off to check out Rockefeller Center.  We also got to go to the "top of the Rock" and tour NBC Studios.

They were decorating the plaza for Easter.  The amount of Easter lilies they were planting was unbelievable.

Here is a view of the Empire State Building from "the top of the Rock."

And a faraway pic of the Statue of Liberty.

We also went to Times Square for a little shopping and to catch the show, "Spiderman."

It was a really fun trip!  The kids were excited and missed Easter with their cousins, but they had a great time!

Spring Clothes for Cara

I'll be honest, Cara does NOT need new clothes.  But she is sooooooo fun to shop for! :)  I saw this outfit at Nordstrom and knew Cara would love it and she did...especially the glittery heart coming out of the cookie.

She had this shirt that she received for her birthday last June and has been waiting to grow into it.  I bought the yellow pants at H&M this last weekend in NYC and they look pretty good with the shirt.

I bought another outfit from Naartjie but I'm just not in love with it and neither is Cara, so it's going back.  Just another opportunity for more shopping!
