Baccalaureate 2013

Tonight was A's Baccalaureate.  One step closer to graduation this Friday.  Here she was waiting in line to walk in.  I snapped this picture leaning back over a pew with my zoom on, but I had the wrong settings so it was a little blurry, but I just loved her look of excitement ready to march in.

These 3 girls have been dancing together at the same dance school since they were Cara's age.  They will have their last recital together in a couple of weeks.

I took this one in the yard when we got home.  They are mowing the pasture tomorrow, so I won't have nice, tall weeds for photos again for a while.

Two more days til the big day!

Mini-Olympics {Sunday Snapshot}

Last Wednesday was mini-Olympics at Cara's gymnastics.  It was time for parents to come and see what the kids are learning and take lots of pictures.  The teachers set up about 5 stations and the students moved from station to station based on their level.

Cara with her friend, Leah.  I was trying to get the girls to look toward me for a picture and Leah's mom was trying to get the girls to look at her for a picture, so the girls were looking in opposite directions. :)  Leah is in Cara's dance class, too.

This girl is super good on vault and bars.  I didn't get any good bars pictures, though.

Each gymnast got a chance to stand on the podium at the end of the night and pose for pictures.  Cara had a great time!

Cartwheels {Sunday Snapshot}

Cara started gymnastics in March, and she's obsessed with cartwheels.  "Watch me! Watch me!" she will say as she does them non-stop in the back yard.

Only problem is, she's not really interested in landing on her feet.  She prefers to flop on the ground and thinks it's hysterical.

Hope your Sunday was filled with cartwheels and hearts! ;)

Wedding Photos

My cousin got married today at the farm.  My mom had  gotten a bunch of yellow polo shirts for all the boys to wear to the wedding.  I found this dress on http://www.zulily.com/ and ordered it for Cara to wear.

Here's some of the boys in their yellow polo's along with Cara and L:

Three of the girl cousins:

It was a really nice, simple ceremony.  It was pretty warm outside and I didn't even think to grab my camera for more pictures other than these few I snapped before the ceremony.  I really like these ones of the kids, though.

Dance Pics 2013

To be honest, it's a little awkward sometimes to have a senior and a Kindergartener...especially in dance class.  Tonight was the annual dance pictures in the studio, but I took a few in the yard before we left.  Here's my little duckie:

A in one of her costumes.  Love how she looks in this one.

Blowing kisses:

This one we took once we got back from the studio.  A had changed into her other costume and wanted a picture in black and white.

And one in color out in the pasture:

The recital is about 6 weeks away, so I have six weeks to prepare myself for the last time I get to watch one of A's recitals.

A's Pageant {Sunday Snapshot}

It was A's outgoing pageant last Thursday night, and I am soooooooooo thankful it's over!  The parade/pageant season starts in April, runs through the summer and fall, and starts up again in April.  A has had to attend practices, go to dance, take her classes at the community college, participate in the livestock show, and get ready to graduate from high school AND community college at the same time.  To say the least, she's been busy.  Now we have both the livestock show and pageant finished, so we should be able to concentrate on graduation.

Here are the 2012-13 court posing with their float trophies:

A and E in their outgoing royalty dance:

The float director had a special gift for Cara:  a princess sash of her very own!  A got to put it on her during the pageant.

A and Cara after the pageant:

J and I posing with A after the pageant:

A and B together:
All we had left to do was put on the royalty luncheon Saturday afternoon after the parade.  Luncheon was a success and we are ALL DONE!  Yay!!!!!

So today I get to relax and let my hubby make dinner for me for Mother's Day.  Hope your Mother's Day is just as wonderful!

Livestock Show {Sunday Snapshot}

I had intended to blog every day at the livestock show, but time just got away from me. I finally have a moment to breathe (and catch up on laundry), so I can get the pics all on one post.  Monday was classification.  This is the judging of the meat of the animal.  Both A and B got blue ribbons with their hogs.  A had one hog in call backs for heavyweight champion and B won reserve champion with his heavy weight hog.

Here is B showing his reserve champion heavy weight:

Tuesday was fitting and showing.  This judging is based on how clean the animal is and how well the exhibitor is able to show their animal.  This year was the first (and only) year that A and B had to show against each other.  High school is senior division and A is a senior and B is a freshman.  The showed against each other in the first class:

Then they both got call backs and had to show against each other in the medal round:

And after it was all said and done, A won the silver medal and B won the gold medal!

Both kids were very happy with how they did at the show.  It was A's last show since she will be off to college in the fall, so it was a great way to end her 4-H career.
