Trick or Treating 2013

Tonight was the night Cara has been looking forward to.  She's been to two Halloween parties already, but nothing beats trick-or-treating. ;)  We went over to our old neighborhood before we moved out into the country.  Some of the cousins still live there, so Cara was excited to go.

 This neighborhood is the mecca of trick-or-treating in our town, so I wanted to make sure our kids went early for two reasons:  still light out so no one runs the risk of getting run over and the houses still have candy.

It was Jake's first time trick-or-treating, so he was a little unsure.

Aren't these the two cutest trick-or-treaters, ever?!

And the fun is over until next year.  Happy Halloween!

B's Letterman Jacket

B earned his varsity letter as a freshman in wrestling last March.  We told him  he could choose between a class ring and a letterman's jacket and he chose the jacket.  I had kind of put it off since then, but two weeks ago I took him in to Taylor'd Footwear in Sunnyside to pick out his jacket.

So many choices!  B was overwhelmed by all the choices you can make on a jacket...everything from piping around the pockets to every color on every part of the two grapplers stitched on the back.

I couldn't believe it today when they called only two weeks later to say that the jacket was ready!  We left for the store as soon as I got home from work to pick up his jacket.  It's perfect!

B really likes it and is happy with the way it turned out.  He earned it, and I hope he enjoys it and is proud of his accomplishments every time he puts it on.

Pumpkin Carving {Sunday Snapshot}

Tonight was pumpkin carving night at our house.  Grandma and Grandpa even came over with cousin Jake so he could carve pumpkins for the first time, too.  Cara was so excited!  She had a busy day.  She went to a Halloween party at her other cousin's house earlier in the day and then got to carve pumpkins tonight.

It was so cute watching her explain to her dad how she wanted the face.  With her two fingers down she says, "And I want two teeth on the bottom..."

Bryan was very serious about his pumpkin carving:

Jake had no idea what he was about to get in to...

But he was a quick learner!

Cara posed with pumpkin number one...

Jake was getting into it!  He liked carving pumpkins.  He didn't mind getting pumpkin guts on him, but when he took a taste of them, he spit them out quick! ;)

Jake paused during his work to blow kisses...

We took the pumpkins outside and lit them while the kids posed with their work.  They had so much fun!

Three years {Sunday Snapshot}

My sweet, sweet girl.  I can't believe we've had her for 3 years (and 10 days).  On one hand, it feels like we were just in China.  On the other hand, it feels like she's been with us forever.  I think all families feel like that, though.

She indulged me by posing for a few pictures early this afternoon:

 I think she looks sooooooo grown up...way older than 6!

And when we were finished, true to form, she came back in the house, changed into shorts and a football jersey, and pulled her hair back into a ponytail! ;)  Love that girl!

A Big Weekend {Sunday Snapshot}

It has been a big weekend for our family.  Friday was Cara's 3-year "Gotchaversary" and this weekend was "Dad's Weekend" at WSU.  A first for A and J since J's dad was never able to make it to Pullman for Dad's Weekend when J was in school.

This picture is right in front of Martin Stadium:

J was thinking this picture would work for the Christmas card this year, and it might be the one.  I just hate to rule out any future pictures between now and card printing time.

It was a nice, relaxing weekend.  Too bad the Cougs lost, though.

Cara's and Daddy's Garden

Cara and Daddy have a fairly large garden.  They work on it in the spring, get it weeded, and plant their seeds and plants.  Sunday it was time to pick the pumpkins since we had our first freeze last week and the vines have died back.

Cara also picked the grapes so we could make grape jelly.  We made seven jars on Sunday.  She and daddy are planning to make some grape juice, too.

She got her pumpkins all picked and has put them out by the front door for decoration.

Cara is proud of her garden this year!

Fall Pics [Sunday Snapshot]

This weekend A was home so it was a great opportunity to take my fall pictures of the kids.  The leaves haven't turned quite as much as I would have liked, but we got them done.  I take a picture of the kids in the same place every year and hang it on the wall in our bedroom.

I ended up with these two pictures...I kind of like the bottom one better, but I'm not sure about A's bottom sticking out.  I think I could crop it, but I like their smiles better.

It was a nice weekend for A to be home. :)
