Is it too early to start decorating for Valentine's Day?

Maybe it's a little bit too early to start decorating for Valentine's Day, but I couldn't wait!  I needed to get the hyacinth and tulip bulbs started for teacher gifts, so I might as well set up a little vignette, right?

Typewriter was a new purchase this week.  I've visited it before in a shop in town, but finally decided to make an offer, so it ended up coming home with me! ;)

Books from my Grandpa.  Usually they are in a cabinet in the office, but I thought the red leather covers would be pretty for Valentine's Day.  I will try to restrain myself from putting more decorations up until next weekend!

B's Honor Society Induction

I love this kid!  The one in the middle smiling for mama!  He knew I wanted a good picture of his honor society induction.  So proud of B.  I can't wait to see what amazing things he does with his life. :)

First Project of 2014

The title of my post is funny to me, because it makes it sound like I'm a project person, which I'm not.  It could also be titled, "Only Project of 2014" and that could very well be true.  We build our home 6 years ago and haven't really done anything inside.  I don't even have window coverings of any sort in the main living area.

This is our 1/2 bath off the garage.  It's just a pedestal sink, toilet, and sliding pocket door.  It's only 32 inches wide.  It's barely a bathroom.  But if you're a child that just got home after a long car ride, its the perfect place for a bathroom and it doesn't matter how small it is. :)

I painted it Georgian Green when we built.  I love green, and I had seen the color in a house on a home tour and knew I wanted it somewhere in our home when the time came.  But it was starting to seem dark...especially in such a small room.  So I decided to paint it over Christmas break.  Here is a "before" picture:

It took two coats of "Lauren's Surprise" paint color to cover that green.  We finally finished putting the room back together tonight and this is what it looks like:

Here is the new shelf for the bathroom that came this afternoon.  I filled it with glass plumeria bowels from Maui, a Tommy Bahama candle, and other shells and things we had around the house.

The bathroom seems so bright and airy!  I love it, but it will still be a while before I tackle another painting job in the house any time soon!
