Pumpkin Carving

Last year at this time we had just gotten back from China with Cara.  The kids all put on their matchy-matchy orange Shanghai shirts to carve pumpkins.  Cara was pretty skeptical about the whole thing.  And sad.  And a little scared.  Not this year.

Last year it took a lot of coaxing to even get her to put her hand into a pumpkin.  It was sensory overload!  This year she dug right in and cleaned the guts out of her own pumpkin.

Isn't it nice when your kids are old enough to carve their own faces on their pumpkin? ;)

Cara supervised Daddy's work on her pumpkin face.  She wanted two triangles for the eyes, a rectangle for the nose, and a smile with 3 teeth.

Cara checked out her pumpkin after the candle was lit.

Then they all posed with their masterpieces.

Happy Halloween!

  1. She's a big girl now! (anyone who can stick their hand into the slimy, seedy innards of a pumpkin has graduated to that status)
